The firebed is crushed glass in bronze, platinum, black, or cobalt —or an ember bed with Ember-Glo glass, a glowing coal effect—set against a fireback in black glass or black paint. Seven faces, from the FPX Shadowbox and Metropolitan to the Lopi Profile in black, bronze, or stainless steel, frame the fire to match the wall it sits in. And it heats. At approximately 1,000–1,950 square feet of heating capacity, this is an appliance, not an accent —enough to carry the main living area of the house while the furnace holds a baseline, warming the rooms your family actually lives in instead of every square foot you own. Possible Downsides • There is no traditional log set. The decorative media options are crushed glass, driftwood, birch, tumbled stones, and cannon balls. • The fireback, firebed media, face, and surround panel are required selections sold as separate components. The base unit on its own is not a finished fireplace. • Propane requires a conversion kit. Out of the box it burns natural gas.
